Mission and Background Information
UVABikes is a Student run sustainable Bike Sharing program at the University of Virginia. We will be placing approximately 40 bikes around the University of Virginia grounds, focusing primarily on dormitories and high student volume areas. These include the Aquatic and Fitness Center, the Library Quad, and the Chemistry building.
UVABikes started as a independent study within the McIntire School, and has grown into a complex, interdisciplinary group of students representing the schools of Commerce, Architecture, Engineering, and the College of Arts and Sciences. Its mission has evolved as well, becoming a leading student run sustainability program at the University.
Currently, the initiative is growing around grounds and in the neighboring Charlottesville Community. UVABikes will be installing docking stations near the Corner, and Barracks Road Shopping Center ideally beginningin August 2010. Stay posted for more information regarding the expansion.
UVABikes would like to remind you to bike responsibly.
